As a member of British Wood Preserving and Damp Proofing Association (BWPDA), our family owned business has been carrying out installations since 1959.
An electro-osmosis system is an advanced method used to control and prevent rising damp in buildings by utilizing an electric field to redirect moisture away from the structure. The system works by installing electrodes, typically placed in the walls at the base of the affected area, which create an electric current when powered. This current induces a process called electro-osmosis, where water molecules are drawn away from the porous masonry and directed towards a drainage system, effectively counteracting the natural capillary rise of moisture.
The electro-osmosis process stabilizes the moisture content within the walls, reducing dampness and preventing damage caused by rising water, such as mold growth and salt contamination. It is a highly effective, non-invasive solution, particularly useful in older buildings or where traditional damp-proofing methods, like chemical injections or physical membranes, are not feasible. Once installed, the system requires minimal maintenance and offers a long-term solution to managing rising damp.
