Timber resin splicing is a specialized repair technique used to restore and strengthen damaged or decayed timber structures. This process involves the application of a high-strength resin compound to the affected area of the timber, where it is injected or applied to the wood’s surface. The resin penetrates the wood fibers, bonding with the existing material and effectively filling cracks, voids, and weakened sections. Once the resin cures, it forms a durable, solid bond that significantly enhances the strength and integrity of the timber, effectively “splicing” the damaged part of the wood with the healthy sections.

Timber resin splicing is particularly useful in the restoration of historical or heritage buildings, where preserving the original material is a priority. It can also be used to repair beams, joists, or wooden structural elements in modern construction, offering a cost-effective and non-invasive solution to timber decay or mechanical damage, while maintaining the aesthetic and functional qualities of the wood.
